In our team at MINDA North America, Tyler Martin recently has started working after completing his studies in electrical engineering at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte/USA.
In order for him to be able to take on tasks and work on projects, a detailed, technical induction is required. Background and information on projects and customers had to be passed on. But the best way to learn about the connections is to look over your colleagues’ shoulder. Tyler Martin had the opportunity to do this on several projects.
He was impressed by the size of the installation of the fully automated plant of the Canadian CLT pioneer Structurlam Mass Timber Corporation in Conway, Arkansas. One of the largest and most modern plants in North America for the production of glulam beams and columns as well as cross laminated timber is being built there. "It was great to see people from all over the world working together on one project," he reports enthusiastically. Among them, four MINDA teams were involved and he was able to participate as part of one team.
"The MINDA products I saw on site were all very complex and it was immediately apparent how much technical know-how was behind them," he said, describing his impressions.
He received his first training from the Stadthagen team. They worked him into the electrical plans and control systems so he could carry out the service at a later stage. Furthermore, he got the chance to work at the high-bay warehouse. However, his most exciting experience was working with the PLC programmer Tjark Tiemann from the Minden plant. With him, he experienced the laying of the longitudinal and cross layers, the application of glue and the pressing of the first CLT board.
On his second assignment, he was given the opportunity to spend some time on each section of the MINDA installation accompanying the commissioning activities. This helped consolidate his understanding of the MINDA components being on site.
Tyler Martin then became familiar with installations in two corrugated cardboard plants and was trained in the commissioning of conveyor systems by Benjamin Walczak from the Tangermuende team. The experience gained there will help him to carry out service and commissioning of corrugators from MINDA North America in the future - with the support of the service group from Tangermuende.
We wish our new colleague a successful start in our company and look forward to a good and trustful cooperation. We wish Tyler the best of success and a good start into an exciting career with us.
